EA Announces MMA Game

Today at the EA Press conference, it was announced that EA Tiburon would be producing a next gen MMA game for the PS3 and Xbox360. Although no major details were given, EA made it clear that the game would be released in 2010. Peter Moore noted that the game would feature “world renowned” fighters from all over the fight spectrum. It’s not known at this time whether or not any UFC fighters will be included. However, it’s widely known that the UFC requires fighters to sign over their image for use in things such as video games. The next few months should be very interesting for fight fans!

Fight Night Roster Revealed… Well, sort of.

Ea Sports Announced today , just over half of the playable fighters in this year’s summer fight title, Fight Night Round 4. Along with Tyson and Ali, Fight Night will also hold such names as Sugary Ray Leonard, Lennox Lewis and Ricky Hatton.

IGN posted some new videos over the weekend , and in one of them, we’ve captured a shot of Tito Ortiz in the game!

It only makes us wonder, who else is THQ and the UFC hiding from us???

This isn’t the first go-round for the Ultimate Fighting Championship as the mix martial arts company dabbles in interactive entertainment with publisher THQ. It is, however, the first attempt at a video game now that UFC is a dominant force not just in MMA but in sports in general. Now it counts. Now that the marketing machinery and consciousness of sports fans are revved up and ready for anything and everything that has to do with UFC, a video game isn’t just a video game. It’s a piece of merchandise that can attract new fans and give the hardcore supporters a new channel through which they can experience their favorite sport. The pressure is on for the game to serve the needs of everybody involved……
