The tombstone looks amazing. The SCM on the other hand. Meh

The guy doing it hit it too late. I'm sure it looks better when done properly.

The Super Kick one is not great. And I think it always looks like that, because it's a canned animation, not a strike. When they mocapped it, they just timed it wrong, and the guy lands before HBK has finished winding up to kick him in the face. They should have just chopped out a couple frames and made it seem like HBK was kicking him JUST as he was coming down for the landing, not just after he landed.

The Tombstone one looks perfect though. In fact, every one I've seen (except the Super Kick one) is spot on. Maybe next year we'll get more diversity with this, like maybe just a straight up Catching reversal position that would let you then segue into any finisher or regular grapple hold in your moveset from that position. Or something. Like most things, I think this is just the tip of the iceberg for what they can do with this feature, so who knows what next year may bring?

They really should've used that Shelton springboard as a basis for that move. Either that or eliminate that huge back step for the SCM and make it a shorter one. That way he would've been able to get the kick off before the guy landed (then again I think the whole mo-capping thing eliminates room for that type of tweaking... I dunno). And I'm going with Outlaw on this one. When they first announced these catch finishers, I was thinking they were like most high risk counters where they're performed at the point of contact, not point of takeoff. Seeing that it worked in the latter method on top of seeing that vid proves to me that it's not gonna get any better than that unless there's the off chance that it wasn't the final version of the game and I'm not holding my breath on that.

I would like to know if you come at kane/Taker with a standing Moonsault (meaning the opponent is standing) would the animation be more natural and caught and then Tombstoned ala HBK/Taker Wrestlemania 26?

SCM looks totally off the mark. It definitely needs to be reanimated so the kick is landed while the guy is still in the air. Otherwise it's hard to really consider it a catch finisher, imho.

It seems to be a canned animation for a reversal, meaning the guy is starting to initiate a top rope dive at you but you hit your finisher button (as the reversal button in this situation), which triggers the catch finisher animation. It's like when they choreograph it on television, where the guy seems to be doing nothing more than a casual axe handle so that he can easily be fed into the reversal move. You trigger this reversal at the point of initiation, not at the point of impact, so no matter what top rope dive was GOING to be done, you will just do the catch finisher animation. Does that make sense?

Yeah, it makes sense, but it doesn't mean I like it. Though, it's still a cool feature.

Nah, didn't expect anyone to like it. I was just kind of responding to your moonsault question.

Oh... oh HO wait a second, something just crossed my mind. Didn't they say you can do catch finishers offa Springboard moves too? I don't think anything has been shown on that (I think maybe in the first trailer it might've had Rey springboard moonsault into Kane or Taker's arms... gotta rewatch that and see). Surely there aren't any Springboard Double Axe Handles in this game, so maybe there is indeed a chance at seeing a better animation for that kick, the Shelton one even! ^_^

I think the code breaker, RKO, chokeslam, wss look more natural because they are no extra movements. The others including the Tombstone don't look as natural, imho.

The springboard catch Codebreaker looks pretty much the same.

Yeah, I think it's the same animation. But like I said, the only one that doesn't look great is the Super Kick, so overall, this is very well done for Year One of a feature, and the sky's the limit going forward.

Thanks for finding the video, Trick.

So I dunno if this is gonna come out right cause i'm using a browser where I can't copy and past so I'm throwing in the link manually, can't even see how it looks cause I'll have a huge empty box with an x on it but...
    YouTube Player

Assuming that came out okay, I had the springboard Superkick catch in high hopes. THAT'S how the top rope should've looked. It's basically the same animation but Shawn catches Rey just as his feet hit the canvas instead of letting him stand there for a half second. I'm not sure if it's a distance thing when it comes to the top rope counter or what but it should be this way across the board.

That didn't work, I checked your coding for it...and your missing a digit. It's supposed to be 11 not 10 on this "GypBO3lVT4"...so one of the letters/numbers is missing.

Just threw a 6 in front of that G, and I'm not sure if that's supposed to be an "L" or an "I"
there but I jotted it down as an L. If that didn't work lemme go back into my watch later and grab the title to make it easier to search for

edit: wwe '13 sweet chin music in mid-air !!

If you search that, the 6th 7th and 8th video should all be related to that. Rey hits the 619, Shawn no sells and catches Rey off the springboard.

    Re: Tombstone Mid-Air Finisher

Awesome find! Yeah, this IS how the top rope version should have looked. Maybe it's a distance thing like you said, but I'm guessing it was just animated differently. If it's not fixable this year, it certainly should be next. But in the mean time, it's not like the first one was bad, and this one just being in the game at all is awesome.

Thanks for finding and posting this, Web. And thanks for being the YouTube Yoda, Viper.
