Well I have a problem when trying to play the 4.0 version of the game. Whenever I try opening it and press edit or start game, The game freezes. Do I need any software to make the game run smoothly?

Well in my experience I have a laptop it`s a Pentium dual core T2080. It has 2 gigs of RAM. Anyway, if I am playing the game I first run "disk cleanup" and maybe reduce my desktop resoultion and everything runs fine for me. I guess it depends on what kind of a computer you have and maybe doing some small tweaks to help run the game better. You might wanna do a Google search and type in something like "how to speed up my pc" or "how to optimize my pc". Just a few ideas for ya. Also, you should get an xbox360 controller to play games such as this one on your pc. Good luck!![]()

Hello Action, first off, I want to say I've enjoyed your game ever since the first version. But with this fourth version, I seem to be running into the same problem as the topic starter. I was just wondering, is it necessary to have 2 gigs of RAM and a dual core processor to be able to run the new version?
The person that said they were able to run it well after doing cleanup and changing the resolution also said they had both of those... but I only have a single core and around 500 megs of RAM. Would the new version require a more beefed up system than the previous ones needed before I could play it? Any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance. Peace.

Maybe increasing the application's priority via Task-Manager will help (at least it did in my case): Access it by right-clicking the windows taskbar on an empty space, select the "Processes"-tab, fire up HBW and set the priority to "high" as soon as it shows up in the list. Oftentimes i needed to run HBW two times, but in the end, it worked out pretty well. No guarantees, however.
»You play 21 - I got 22! You wanna play Blackjack? I got two of those, too!«
Well, I tried setting the priority to high a couple of times, but it still freezes each time I go to edit or try to start a match. I even tried taking out the wrestler pack and only leaving in Action and Manhandler, to see if less characters would allow it to run faster, but no such luck. What kind of system specs do you have, Bastardo? Anything better than a single core and 500 or so megabytes of RAM? If not, is there anything else you think I could do to get it to run?
I've been following this game since the beginning, and this version seems to be an awesome step forward. But as it is, I'm not able to experience it, and I don't know for what reason. I'm pretty much left with the idea that I'm going to have to upgrade my computer before I can play this edition. I tried cleanup, changing the resolution, setting the priority to high, reducing the characters to two, and even trying a different graphics card, but everything led to the same result. Has anyone with the same systems specs as I been able to run the new version? Or do you think I'm S.O.L. until I ramp up my comp?
By the way, the two graphics cards I've tried are an embedded Intel card, and an Nvidia GeForce series 6 card, both with updated drivers... Do you think it could be the graphics card that's keeping me from being able to play it? Any more opinions and advice will be appreciated. I seriously want to try this out, but I'm starting to lose hope. It's going to cost $150 to get another core and to get the RAM boosted to 2 gigs, and bills have been draining us, so it'll be a while before I'm able to upgrade. I'd like to play this before 2010.![]()
I just tried moving the game to another hard drive that has alot more space, and the game froze up once again. If a few people that have been able to play the game would be able to let me know if they're using 1GB of RAM or more, as well as if they have a dual core or better, than that would help. I'd also appreciate it if Action himself could perhaps let me know the minimum requirements for this verision. I know I was able to play the first two, and I THINK I was able to play the third with this set-up. Does anyone know if 4.0 needs Vista or not? Anyone with information, please let me know. It'll be a while before I can upgrade, so if I can have some info that would allow me to get the game started without having to wait too long, then I'd be grateful.
I have no idea what the min requirements are. I just make it. It's not a retail product.

Well, I've seen some non-retail software that include minimum requirements, such as the PS2 emulator "PCSX2". Anyway, do you think 512 megs is too low for the 4th version? What specs do you have? The first version ran just fine for me, and I've always had 512MB, but I'm thinking this version is going to require more power. I tried changing the in-game resolution and colors, and that didn't help. I'll probably just have to wait till I have $150 that doesn't go toward a bill.
I've seriously enjoyed this game, but now I'm unable to play it. Regardless, I appreciate the hard work you've put into this effort, Action. I know that whenever I manage to play this version, I'll enjoy it as much, if not more, than the others. I'm sorry if I'm starting to bug you, but I just really want to try this out.
First off, thank you for making this wonderful free game! I am sad you seem to be moving away from the development though. I had plans to use it for my efed, but in its state it would not really work. I was hoping to see the caw and cpu vs cpu implemented.
It is interesting you are going towards the xbox. My wife ad I have put in many hours over the last 5-6 years on an indy morpg, only to make the same choice. We have begun to work with XNA and are currently working on a RTS based off the same lore we were using in our morpg. Any chance we will see a HBW on the xbox? That would be a huge seller, if you can work out the network stuff. What is HBW 4.0 coded in? Torque? If you ever resume work on HBW I would offer my services (free of course) as a texturemaker/non-organic modeller/music/voicework. Anyway, I look forward to your next project.

To the above posters having trouble running the game:
I have ran this game with 2g ram and 256mb video card without any trouble. Make sure to have .net intalled as well as directx and updated sound and graphic drivers. I had no idea a sound driver could cause the havok it has on my machine(blue screen crashes, stuttering of video), once I updated it, my pc has not crashed once since.
good luck.
